BIOTOPIA – Naturkundemuseum Bayern

Wir stellen uns vor

In den nächsten Jahren entsteht in München ein einzigartiger Entdeckungsort: BIOTOPIA – Naturkundemuseum Bayern. Denn das Museum Mensch und Natur in Nymphenburg erfindet sich neu – als Life-Science-Museum an der Schnittstelle zwischen Wissenschaft und Gesellschaft.

Prof. Dr. Michael John Gorman, der Gründungsdirektor von BIOTOPIA, hält den LMU-Lehrstuhl für „Life Sciences in Society“ an der Fakultät für Biologie. Unter dem Motto „explore life“ will er die Öffentlichkeit für aktuelle Forschung begeistern.

Wie das geht? Mit dem BIOTOPIA Lab eröffnet im Herbst 2020 auf 350m² plus Außenbereich im Botanischen Garten München eine Plattform, die dieses Konzept veranschaulicht – mit dem interaktiven VR-Flugsimulator Birdly, einer Experimentierküche, Hochbeeten und vielem mehr. Als Ausstellungsraum, Veranstaltungsort und spannende Probierwerkstatt macht es Forschung zum interaktiven Erlebnis und bietet Angebote für Schulen, Kindergärten und ein interessiertes Publikum. So füllt das Lab die Lücke zwischen der Schließung des Museums Mensch und Natur und dem Neustart als BIOTOPIA.

Aktuell suchen wir tatkräftige Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeiter, die uns beim Workshop- und Laborprogramm und der Eröffnung des BIOTOPIA Labs unterstützen. Wer erlebnisreich Wissen vermitteln, Neugier wecken und Perspektivwechsel herausfordern möchte, ist bei uns richtig.

About us

In the next few years a unique place of discovery will be created in Munich: BIOTOPIA – Naturkundemuseum Bayern. The Museum Mensch und Natur in Nymphenburg is reinventing itself as a life science museum at the interface between science and society with the motto "explore life".
Prof. Dr. Michael John Gorman, the founding director of BIOTOPIA, also holds the LMU chair for "Life Sciences in Society" at the Faculty of Biology.

The BIOTOPIA Lab will open in autumn 2020 on 350m² plus outdoor area in the Botanical Garden Munich, a platform that illustrates this concept - with the interactive VR flight simulator Birdly, an experimental kitchen, raised beds and much more. As an exhibition space, event location and exciting workshop, it turns research into an interactive experience and offers services for schools, kindergartens and an interested public. In this way, the lab fills the gap between the closure of the Museum Mensch und Natur and the new start as BIOTOPIA.
